FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Veterans Appreciation Day Planned At Riding Center – May 26, 2007

Local and visiting veterans and their families are encouraged to contact Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center for details about its Veterans Appreciation Day & Horseback Ride celebration, on Saturday, May 26th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Veterans Appreciation Day will begin with the Presentation of Colors and Invocation and a continental breakfast. The “Chuck Box” from Crooked River will offer concession services throughout the day for attendees. Families of veterans are welcome to accompany their veteran-rider and enjoy this time of celebration and appreciation too. The event will be open to the public. Prizes and a raffle drawing are also planned.

In a show of appreciation and support for veterans and their service to and the defending of our freedoms, Healing Reins, a non-profit organization, will be hosting the event. For only $25, which includes the veteran’s lunch (with all remaining costs subsidized by Healing Reins) U.S. veterans can enjoy an hour of horseback riding under certified riding instructors. Proof of military service at time of registration will be required. Registration packets for veteran riders are available by calling Healing Reins and are due at least one week prior to the day of the event. Registration deadline is May 19th.

Healing Reins is open to the public six days a week (closed Sundays). Eight week riding sessions are available for any veterans or family members with special needs throughout the year. The facilities, southeast of Bend is NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) premier certified, are ADA equipped.

Contact Healing Reins at 382.9410 to get the veteran’s application and registration process started. All veterans are welcome at this event, whether or not they plan to ride.
